  A Champion for Water Issues  

  • Past 2 Years UWCD added a record 130 billion gallons of water to our local basins

  • The California Department of Water Resources recognizes UWCD for its record recharge rates.

  • UWCD secured crucial federal and state funding for essential infrastructure projects:

    • Extraction Barrier Brackish Water (EBB) Project

    • Santa Felicia Dam Enhancements

    • Freeman Diversion Fish Passage Rehabilitation

    • Iron and Manganese Treatment Facility

Shelly's extensive involvement in water resource management sets him apart.

He currently serves as Treasurer for the Association of Water Agencies (AWA), having previously served as President. He also contributes to the Fox Canyon Groundwater Management Agency as an Alternate Board Member. His past leadership roles in ACWA committees showcase his dedication to addressing water challenges at both state and federal levels.

Shelly's commitment to water conservation and management has earned him prestigious recognition, including:

  • AWA President's Award (2005)

  • AWA Award of Appreciation for Outstanding Commitment (2001)

  • AWA Water Leadership & Dedicated Service Award (2004)

Shelly's long-standing service on the UWCD Board, dating back to 1983, reflects his unwavering dedication to ensuring a sustainable water future for our community. He was re-elected in November 2020.

Shelly Berger, a dedicated community member and seasoned professional, serves as your representative for Oxnard, Port Hueneme, and surrounding areas on the United Water Conservation District (UWCD) Board.

 Deep Local Roots 

A proud Oxnard resident since 1972, Shelly brings a wealth of local knowledge and experience to his role.  His successful career as a realtor since 1989, along with his numerous sales awards, demonstrates his commitment to  excellence.

He has been married to the love of his life, Nancy, for over 41 years.
